I've never seen the kids so visibly affected by and involved with a book.

Thanks.Christopher Busta-Peckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15428701548572867797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1424345791771452141.post-84173832618874653382011-01-18T14:39:36.016-05:002011-01-18T14:39:36.016-05:00Hi, Wilson-

You have got your art philosophy exactly right- don't be distracted by "competition", but rather focus on yourself and pursue the things that you are passionate about. Everyone is unique with diverse strengths and interests, so concentrate on being the best "you" that you can be and good things will eventually follow!
Best,
BillBill Thomsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12241158534701426587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1424345791771452141.post-64022425445542534742011-01-17T17:37:53.200-05:002011-01-17T17:37:53.200-05:00Hello Mr. Thomson, I found your blog through Aja W...Hello Mr. Thomson, I found your blog through Aja Wells. You are her Thesis Adviser. She made a post mentioning you on Facebook and that you had a blog up! Chalk was one of my favorite books this year! Wordless books so well illustrate the art of storytelling and you Sir are a Master! Bravo!

Your book also helped me get over the anxiety of competing with fellow illustrators for work. When I saw your book I realized that certain artists are just made for certain books. I could not have done Chalk justice with my style of rendering. In our industry it's not about competing with each other for work, each of us present unique visions that need unique books to showcase them. All we can do is get our artwork into the hands of as many art directors as possible and hope they have the book/script that is meant for us and our individual style. Thanks so much for that!

I will be keeping an eye out on your artwork and blog Mr. Thomson. You have a fan in me!

-WilsonWilsonWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14718156339223756933noreply@blogger.com
